This year, Dr. Christine Shaver of Bernstein Medical – Center for Hair Restoration presented at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) on finasteride use in male-to-female transgender patients.
Transgender patients can be very good candidates for hair transplant surgeries. Concomitant finasteride use will help achieve the fullest possible look and decrease the need for future hair procedures.
Dr. Shaver explained medical considerations for transgender patients, the indications for finasteride and when to combine it with minoxidil.
Founded in 1993, the ISHRS is a non-profit medical society of over 1,000 members of hair loss and hair restoration professionals. The ISHRS is particularly meaningful to our practice. Dr. Bernstein, as well as his mentor, Dr. William Rassman, have received the highest honors from this esteemed group.
