Capillus82

The Capillus82â„¢ is the newest in a line of portable hair restoration devices manufactured by Capillus, LLC. Like the Capillus272, its predecessor, the Capillus82 uses the principle of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to treat androgenetic hair loss. In LLLT, the scalp is irradiated with low-intensity laser light. This is thought to increase cellular energy production and, ultimately, to halt miniaturization of hair follicles and promote hair regrowth in individuals experiencing hair loss.

The battery-powered Capillus82 is a laser therapy cap equipped with 82 laser diodes and which fits under a standard baseball hat. It can be used, inconspicuously, both indoors and outdoors offering ease of use and convenience that encourages the patient to commit to a hair restoration routine.

The main differences between the Capillus82 and the Capillus272 are the number of diodes in each unit and the price. The Capilus272 comes with 272 laser-emitting diodes, over three times as many as the Capillus82, and the highest number for any home-based laser therapy device. It is also more expensive, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $3000. The Capillus82 costs $799.

Both the Capillus82 and the 272 are cleared by the FDA for the treatment of hair loss and are indicated for adults who may not be candidates for surgical hair restoration.
