KBM had two sessions of large grafts in the mid-1980s of approximately 100 grafts each. The procedures left him with a pluggy, unnatural look and uneven coverage. He has worn a toupee since the procedures. The repair consisted of two graft excision sessions (71 plugs removed in the first and 10 in the second) followed by two follicular unit transplantation procedures (1,600 and 1,260 grafts placed for a total of 1,860).
