Patient LYQ

Patient LYQ had a strip procedure from an inexperienced surgeon who used sutures and then removed them too soon. The result was a wide scar that the patient was unable to camouflage.

The repair was accomplished by completely excising the widened scar and then using a stapled closure (with some staples being left in for 28 days to decrease the risk of post-operative stretching of the wound). There were 415 follicular unit grafts, obtained from the edges of the scar, that were placed at the patient’s frontal hairline. The donor area is shown one year after the repair.
