Robotic Hair Transplant

March 30th, 2017

Dr. Wolfeld describes how the patient is oriented in the ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant System during a Robotic FUE procedure.

Transcript of the video:

So this is the chair for the robotic hair transplant procedure, and at the start of the procedure, the patient is seated comfortably in the chair with his face head down in this halo system. Now there is extra cushioning surrounding the halo, so the patient is very comfortable throughout the procedure.

At the beginning of the procedure, the robot will harvest the grafts from the back of the patient’s scalp. So the patient is going to be face down while the robotic arm comes around and harvests the grafts from the back of the patient’s scalp.

Once we move to the sides of the patient’s scalp, depending on how many grafts are going to be harvested, the patient will shift slightly from one side to the other and turn his head left or right for the robot to be able to harvest those grafts from the side. And throughout the entire procedure, the patient is very comfortable seated in this chair.
