The American Hair Loss Association

The American Hair Loss Association is a national, non-profit membership organization dedicated to educating the public, healthcare professionals, main stream media and legislators about hair loss.

The AHLA’s mission is to educate and improve the lives of those who are affected by various types of alopecia (the medical term for hair loss). Focusing on prevention and treatment of baldness, the ALHA is active in promoting awareness of the disease and its impact on people’s lives, encouraging scientific advancements, and assisting men and women who suffer from hair loss in finding the appropriate treatments.

The American Hair Loss Association is guided by its Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board. It has been spearheaded by its founder and president Spencer Kobren.

American Hair Loss Association members are physicians who are dedicated to treating those who have been afflicted by alopecia. Surgical hair restoration Physicians members must be accepted members of The International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons. The IAHRS is a consumer hair transplant organization working to protect and improve the appearance, health and well-being of hair transplant patients and is recognized by the AHLA as an important resource for hair loss sufferers considering surgical hair restoration.

Non-surgical Physician members of The American Hair Loss Association are licensed medical practitioners with the desire and knowledge to educate the hair loss sufferer. The education and treatment protocols provided by these members must meet the ethical and medical standards of the AHLA.

The AHLA also provides educational materials and resources to dermatologists and to other healthcare professionals interested in treating and educating hair loss sufferers. These materials are also distributed to hair salons and directly to patients.
