Hair Transplant Patients from the U.K.
We have made it easy for men and women in the United Kingdom to obtain information about the state-of-the-art approach to hair loss treatment and hair transplant procedures provided by Bernstein Medical – Center for Hair Restoration in New York City. Although nothing replaces a one-on one consultation, a preliminary evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for a hair transplant can be obtained by anyone with an internet simply by providing some biographical information and sending photos showing your hair loss. We have made this simple with our photo consult form.
Hair Loss Consultation from the UK
Understandably, patients may not wish to take the time to travel outside the UK to visit a doctor for a consultation, only to discover that they have to return again for a procedure or that surgery is not even recommended. This is why hundreds of men and women from the United Kingdom have taken advantage of our photo consultation form. By submitting information about your hair loss and photos showing your current hair loss patterns, you can have a preliminary consultation with Dr. Bernstein without ever leaving your home.
All photos consultations are done by the doctor, just as in our office practice; we have no consultants or salespeople. The doctor will assess your potential candidacy for a surgical hair restoration or a repair procedure. You are also welcome to mail your photos to:

Scheduling Hair Transplant Procedure from the UK
Once you have had a photo consultation with Dr Bernstein and he has recommended a hair transplant procedure, you are welcome to schedule the surgery with him by calling 011-212-826-2400 or e-mailing us at contact@bernsteinmedical.com. The availability of surgical dates is determined, in part, by the size and type of your procedure. Generally, procedures are booked between two weeks to two months. Our staff will do their best to accommodate your schedule and travel plans.
We do ask that patients who schedule hair transplant procedures or repair work following a phone or photo consultation, make an appointment to see Dr. Bernstein for an in-person consultation at least one day prior to the scheduled date of your procedure. This will allow the doctor to do a more precise assessment of the number of grafts to transplant or, with corrective hair transplants, to determine the extent of the repair work necessary.
All of our patients are required to have laboratory tests prior to surgery. We can provide you with a lab prescription so that you can have the tests run at your local doctor’s office or laboratory. The results can then be faxed to our office at 011-212-826-6200.
We will provide you with a list of local area hotels as well as directions to our office from various airports in the New York and New Jersey area. These directories are completely non-solicited and the hotel/mode of transportation is at your discretion and preference.
Traveling Back to the UK After Hair Transplant Procedure
While you will be physically able to travel to the airport the day after your procedure, we do not recommend it. You will be asked to wash your hair four (4) times during the next day, and this is most easily accomplished when not traveling. By the second day after your procedure you will only need to shower twice a day, so traveling is fine.

Follow-up After Your Procedure
Although it is not required that you return to our office following your hair transplant, that doesn’t mean we won’t be in touch. We will call you the day after your hair restoration procedure and you are encouraged to contact us if you have any post-operative questions. For those living in the UK, we would like to see you again in a year, after the hair transplant has completely grown in.
