Hi,

I have patchy hair fall in front portion of scalp.
would rogaine or any other help to recover this.
I got a injected directly to that area of hair loss on my first consultation with Dermatologist.
And is did show some recovery..but now back to same situation.
Please advise.

thanks much!

Dr. Bernstein: It sounds like you have alopecia areata (rather than androgenetic hair loss). If this is the case, then injections of cortisone is the treatment of choice. It often takes a series of injections spaced a month or two apart to work – so you need to be patient. Rogaine is the treatment for androgenetic (common) baldness, but may also help a bit with alopecia areata as well. However, if used alone, it will not be as effective as the cortisone injections in treating the latter condition.
