Bernstein Medical - Center for Hair Restoration: CT
The Bernstein Medical – Center for Hair Restoration in New York City is about an hours drive, or train ride, from Connecticut, making it very easy for men and women with hair loss to obtain an evaluation. During this consultation with the doctor, you can find out the cause of your thinning and learn about our state-of-the-art treatments, including hair transplantation and medical therapies. For those persons living in New Haven, Hartford, Norwich, New Milford, or the other major cities in Connecticut, public transplantation is readily available.
Although nothing replaces a one-on-one consultation, a preliminary evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for a hair transplant can be obtained simply by providing us with some biographical information and sending photos. We have made this an easy and straight-forward process by going through the photo consult section of our website.
HAVING A HAIR TRANSPLANT CONSULTATION FROM CONNECTICUT
Understandably, patients may not be able to take the time to travel to Manhattan to visit Dr. Bernstein for an initial consultation. This is why hundreds of men and women from all over the United States have taken advantage of our web site’s photo consultations feature. By downloading some basic information and attaching photos you can have a preliminary consultation with Dr. Bernstein without ever leaving your home.
All photos consultations are done by the doctor, just as in our office practice – we do not have consultants or salespeople. The doctor will assess your potential candidacy for a surgical hair restoration or a repair procedure. You are also welcome to mail your photos to:

If you are going to be travelling to the New York area, you would benefit by scheduling an in-person consultation in our NY office. We have appointments available every Monday through Saturday. Please call 212-826-2400 to schedule a consultation.
SCHEDULING A HAIR TRANSPLANT PROCEDURE FOR PATIENTS IN CONNECTICUT OR OTHER AREAS OF THE U.S.
Once Dr. Bernstein has recommended a hair transplant procedure, you are welcome to schedule the surgery with him by calling 212-826-2400 or e-mailing us at contact@bernsteinmedical.com. The availability of surgical dates is determined, in part, by the size and type of your procedure. Dr. Bernstein will give you a general assessment through your photo consultation. Generally procedures are booked between two weeks to two months in advance. Our staff will do their best to accommodate your schedule.
We do ask that patients who schedule hair transplantation procedures or corrective work following a phone or photo consultation make an appointment to see Dr. Bernstein for an in-person consultation at least one day prior to the scheduled date of your procedure. This will allow the doctor to do a more precise assessment of the number of grafts to transplant or, with corrective hair transplants, to determine the extent of the repair work necessary.
All of our patients are required to have laboratory tests prior to surgery. We can provide you with a lab prescription so that you can have the tests run at your local doctor’s office or laboratory. The results can then be faxed to our office at 212-826-6200.
We will provide you with a list of local area hotels as well as directions to our office. This list is non-solicited and the hotel/mode of transportation is at your discretion and preference.
TRAVELING HOME TO CT
While you will be physically able to travel the day of your procedure, you will not be allowed to drive yourself. Also, you should be aware that the day immediately following your procedure you will be asked to wash your hair 4 times. By the second day after your procedure you will only need to shower twice a day, so traveling may be easier on this day.
See post-op instructions.
FOLLOW-UP AFTER YOUR HAIR RESTORATION PROCEDURE
Although it is not required that you return to our office following your hair transplant, that doesn’t mean we won’t be in touch. We will call you the day after your hair restoration procedure and you are encouraged to contact us if you have any post-operative questions. We would like to see you again in a year, after the hair transplant has completely grown in.
